Post Newsletters

Comrades and Auxiliary members, At the May Membership meeting the floor voted to STOP mass mailing of the Post monthly newsletters.  Due to the cost and the fact that our newsletters can be accessed on the Post website, the members found it more economical to go in this direction. This does not mean there will not be a newsletter printed.  Just that we will proceed in a different way of informing the members of what’s happening at Post 6873.  If you live in the general area of the Post, we ask that you stop by to pick up a copy.  We would be happy to see your smiling face.

If you still need a printed copy of our newsletter, you must contact the Post through the Secretary, email: or US mail: VFW Post 6873, 1049 Veterans Drive, Abilene, TX 79605.  You must inform us before 1 August 2016.  July’s copy of our newsletter will be the last one mass mailed.  We’re sorry for this change but cost and manpower is always a factor in running a Post of our size.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, better known as the VFW , was originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service and is a voice for returning and currently deployed servicemembers and their families. The 2.4 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries are located in 8,500 VFW posts around the world. We welcome everyone who meets VFW eligibility requirements, regardless of age, race, religion, or gender.

Post 6873 is dedicated to supporting those who sacrifice so much for this country's veterans, service members in the US Armed Forces, and their families.

Our purpose shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical and educational; to preserve and strengthen comradeship among our members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism, to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies, whomsoever.
